Ruby Solly (Kāi Tahu, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe) is a poet, musician, music therapist, and taonga pūoro practitioner living in ‘Pōneke’, which is also the title of her multimedia album based around the soundscapes of Wellington featuring cello and taonga pūoro in harmony with the land and its histories also told by visual art and poetry. Her first book ‘Tōku Pāpā’ was released by Te Herenga Waka University Press in 2021. She is currently completing a PhD in public health in the use of taonga pūoro in hauora and working on a verse novel that honours her iwi’s traditions of cave art.
