Rana Daoud

 

Rana is an educator who is passionate about Arabic poetry. Her father was Palestinian and her mother was Egyptian. Rana was born and grew up in Kuwait and Jordan then lived in Palestine -West Bank near Jerusalem for two decades. She arrived in Aotearoa six years ago to study at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington and currently works there as an academic developer. She started poetry performance when she was 10 years old in Kuwait and performed both classical and modern Arabic poetry. Rana believes that poetry performance can transfer some deep emotions embedded in poets even if those emotions were lost in translation.
