My Ancestors’ Wildest Dream: Shilo Kino on All That We Know

  • Meow 9 Edward Street Wellington, 6011 New Zealand (map)

Modern day activism, viral videos, social media callouts—Shilo Kino’s All That We Know is a Māori story deeply grounded in the digital age. In conversation with journalist Meriana Johnsen, these two wāhine discuss main character Māreikura’s intricate experience of existing as a young, queer, urban Māori in an increasingly online and often divisive world.

Through this lens, they consider what it means to reconnect with culture through intergenerational trauma, how to look backward to tradition and what to take forward into the future for those who come after.
